Matt, Dylan, Matt's parents, and I went to New Mexico this past weekend. We hoped on a flight Friday afternoon and spent some quality time in New Mexico with Matt's brother Chris and his little family. Matt's oldest brother Chris and his wife Michelle have lived in New Mexico for a couple years now and this is our first time going down to see them. Sad huh!! Matt was able to baptise Kobe. This was such a neat experience. The missionaries have been meeting with Chris and his family, and Kobe decided he wanted to be baptised. It was so special and neat to see the sparkle in Kobe's eyes. The neatest part was when Kobe was confirmed a member of the church and was given the gift of the holy ghost. WOW I just got chills again!! When we were able to see Kobe's face he had the biggest tears rolling down his cheeks. He said he was just so happy! It was so neat to see such a little person feel the spirit so strong. We are soo proud of Kobe and the decision he has made. We pray that he and his family will continue to have the simple promptings and continue to go to church.
I left my camera home. BOOOO it is just like me to do such a thing. It is Dylan's first airplane ride and I don't have my camera. I did buy a $15 disposable camera at the airport, so we will see how the pictures turn out! Dylan did SUPER on the plane. On the way down we got into some pretty rough patches of turbulence and Dylan didn't like it much at all, but as long as my arm was around him he thought it was pretty cool. On the way home he closed his eyes as soon as the plane started moving and didn't wake up until we were taking him out of his car seat in Salt Lake! He is such a good boy and was such a HAM for everyone!!
Just a couple Dylan stories, mostly just for US to remember.. so if you don't really care to read on.. feel free to exit now!!
*Dylan had to make sure he said "HI" to EVERYONE at the airport. He would wave to them until they would look at him, then he would flash them the famous DYLAN big SMILE!! Everyone in line would talk about him and laugh and try to get him to smile at them. Needless to say they didn't have to try very hard. SO fun!
*At the airport Dylan would love to walk around when we got to the gate and were just waiting for our plane. You know the gate things that separate the lines?? the are that belt stuff that you can move easy? You can undo it on one end and it rolls up into the other... you walk through it and then you can stretch it back and hook it back up?? anyway so he would be walking along come to those and duck his head so dramatically then take a funny awkward step to get past it. As if it wasn't 3' above his head. silly boy!! He did it EVERY TIME too!! Maybe he was practicing for when he grows to be 6'10" and had to bend over just to get in a door??
*At Kobe's baptism Dylan REFUSED to sit still. So instead of making a scene and having him kick and scream I let him wander.. YES I never was going to be a mom that let their kids just run a muck, but it is sometimes just easier. And a lot less distracting.. to a degree. He did a pretty good job at staying out of the spotlight and pounding on the piano ect. For the closing song Dylan DID lead the song. It was pretty cute. He is a natural show off. Must get it from Matt.
*Gampa Brad's boots, Dylan could have just stood in Gampa's boots all day. He is not strong enough to walk in them so he just stood still. NICE!!! They are too long for his short legs, so they would come up to his bum. It was pretty fun to watch him try and try to put them on. We would lift him up and set him inside them and he thought he was on cloud 9. He loved it!! I think we might have a farming cowboy on our hands!!!
*We didn't take a stroller and Dylan is not one like likes to be held. Just a normal kid thing, but instead of just letting him walk around we carted him around on our luggage. He thought he was pretty cool. I just took these pictures with my phone, so they are not the best
Here is Dylan and his BIG SMILE. He sure knows how to CHEESE IT!
*While in New Mexico we went to Sandia's Peak. There is a tram that runs from the bottom to the very top. It is pretty fun. When my sister lived down there we rode it, and it was just as neat the second time. While at the top waiting for a ride back to the bottom there was a middle eastern looking man. Well okay there were 2 men and 2 women. They were sitting close to us laughing having a good time enjoying the show by Dylan. (the empty bottle of wine could have been the reasoning behind some of their laughter) They were nice and fun to talk with, but this ONE guy, kept trying to take Dylan from Matt. He would laugh and tickle Dylan.. harmless.. while I was holding Dylan he came over and was sticking his tongue out, Dylan would stick his out and copy this man. It was pretty funny until this guy came in closer and closer moving his tongue around all over in our faces... I thought he would STOP, NO I had to hurry and pull Dylan back last minute, this man was going to LICK Dylan!! HELLO!!! You don't do that!! It was funny, but I couldn't believe he was ACTUALLY going to LICK my child. And I was a little bugged he was in MY bubble! ALL in ALL it was a way neat fun time!
I hope to get my wonderful camera developed soon! I'm crossing my fingers they turn out!
