Camping Labor Day 2008

This past Labor Day weekend we went camping as a family.. as the Owen family. We were very sad that Julie and Cody and Amber and Shane couldn't make it.. but we did have BLAST!!!

Matt had a football game Friday night (varsity won!! J.V. had a rough go..but will be good this year!!) then needed to work on the farm Sat. for a while, so we didn't join the fun until Sat. night. We borrowed an old camping trailer from Matt's sister Bobbi. It is known as Rancho El Rae!! Let me tell you a little about good ol ranco.. it was Bobbi's Dad Bruce's from back in the day.. then Matt's brother Shawn had it now Bobbi.. it is KILLER!! it is small but perfect!

We went on a 4 wheeler ride and had a lot of fun! I love being with my family. Matt thinks we are strange.. but we ARE!! When we came back from our ride it was looking pretty cloudy! We had some lunch and then decided to take the little kids on a short ride. Not 10 min later there was an ALL OUT down poor!!! So we all crowded into my Mom and Dad's trailer.. it is much bigger than Ranco El Rae.. LOL There was not much to do besides eat junk and talk.. but I'm not sure if it was my Mom or Sarah that brought beeds and boodoggle for the kids to make necklaces.. but the Boondoggle was a HIT. I decided with my boredom at hand I would start boondoggling.. and it was a chain reaction. The whole family was going to town on it!! Well most of the fam. Ty did a great job!! He really caught on and did GREAT!! Amy was the first one done..

After being trailer bound for about an hour we decided the storm was not going to let up. So we voted and decided to pack up and spend the night at my Mom's house where it would be dry and warm.. cooking out in the rain is not fun.. but cleaning camp up.. ha ha ha..

This storm really put down a lot of water!! This is what the sides of the road looked like on our way out! The roads were muddy and exciting.. well for those not pulling trailers. Brian and Kevin seemed to have some fun! Brian lost his muffler and my Dad lost the equalizer hitch to his trailer. but went back and found it, good thing it was muddy so when it was ran over it was just pushed down into the mud!!

Our camping trip ended with every one sleeping at my Parent's house.. warm and dry! The thunder and rain is so enjoyable when you can watch it from a house that doesn't feel like it is going to blow over!
I know this post is getting long, but Dylan got his first tooth on Saturday!! When he lets me get a picture of it I will post it. also the slide show below is us camping at Shingle Creek in Cottonwood
